Hello, yesterday i found old Gibson Les paul guitar, its realy damaged., and so on, but when i tried to find which is it - CUSTOM EB, 2P-90 ANTIQUE, 68 CUSTOM EB VOS i couldn`t find it. I am going to fix it, and i wanted to know how much it could cost, and how much i will need to pay for repair.
So there are pics of it:

An old LP custom ebony with crappy inlays i suppose. Probably fake: the inlays, the binding, the pickups + pickup rings and that decal (no dot on the i + the b,s and o are deffinatly wrong) dont seem right. I guess you found yourself an old faky.

*EDIT*
Also: is that a rosewood fretboard? If yes: deffinatly fake, unless its a gibson custom shop, and not just a custom.

*EDIT* no back binding either... Doesnt look good mate.

Whats the serial number on the back of the headstock?

I couldn`t find any number at all.

I don't think that's a Gibson mate, the inlays look really odd, as does the logo. Check for a serial number.

Fake. The stopbar is all wrong. The inlays are CLEARLY fake. The fretboard looks horrible.
There's an extra toggle switch, for some reason. No saying it couldn't have been added later on a previous owner...but it's an extra detail.
Font on the toggle switch label is wrong. Tuners are wrong. Neck pickup's cover is wrong - there should be holes for the pole peices.

Among other things.

Don't spend a dime on it.

looks like the rose wood on the neck has been replaced thats why the frets are block instead of trapazoid, and i've never seen that type of bridge on a gibson either, this may be a gibson but its so beat up its prolly not worth a thing.
Im gonna pistol whip the next guy that says shenanigans !!!!

The logo looks funny to me and if you can't find a serial number than maybe its a fake. Fix it up and see how she sounds and if it sounds good then thats a score for you!

Stopbar, tuners and pickups could have been changed, as could it be that the owner installed a killswitch. So that doesnt prove it fake. But as i said in my first post, there are a hell of alot other things wrong. So my conclusion also is: fake.

Found it in your grandfathers youth box?

Found it old recreation centre. Like 80$.

That explains alot.
String her up, plug it in and see what it gives. You might actually have bought a quite nice home built Les Paul. Let us know how it works out.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

My first thought were fake, and now that I've read the other posts and looked more at the pics, it definitly a fake. Evertything is wrong with it. And it is not worth what you paid for it, you could have bought a Squier that's much better than that.

Few inlays are missing, and its wood not odd looking inlays.

Well they're supposed to be pearl...not wood. That's why they're "odd looking."

truss rod cover should not be touching the headstock inlays, plus the pickup rings have an extra screw on the top side, headstock doesnt seem to match up to the neck very well. position of the pots doesnt look right....MC Hammer is way more legit than this....

yeah...that was a lame joke....lol

yeah, its sucks, today i will take it one man who is repairing instruments, and i will ask about it.
