it's an amplifier. it is made my ORange amplifiers. it is 50 watts RMS, all tube of course. it is colored orange, go figure, but can be obtained in a black tolex if you really want that. it uses 6V6 tubes if i rmember correctly, and has two channels, tube buffered FX loop and tube buffered reverb, all footswitchable. a VERY VERY decent amp if you are into high gain tones or beautiful cleans (who isnt), but pricy for most. i just bought a Thunderverb 50, same preamp, different gain stages and EQ setup on channel two, plus a footswitchable attenuator and a freq response down to 30 hz, making it suitable as a bass amp.

Did you not look at the picture? He's not asking what the amp is -.-

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

I am having a guess but i would suggest that it makes the output from the amp go from loud to quiet.

This is a guess if i am wrong.

Get the combo instead, i dont think it has it.

(Im looking at buying one)

Interesting... I think I might but I'm not entirely sure. I'll let you know for sure on Monday - I'm getting a pretty sweet deal on a combo. If I play it and like it, I will be bringing it home with me; and from what I hear, there's not too much not to like.

No. No, it's not. The 100w head has the bias switch.

hahahahaha there was no picture for me at first. im on a warship at sea, so sometimes the pics dont load. i see it now. sorry for the original post.

that switch adjusts the character of the amp at high volumes. tube amplifiers get what's called "tube sag" which gives a warm compression effect to what you play through it, essentially a small attack delay. some people love this. for me it all depends on what you are playing, so if you arew playing metal, you want a very tight response. but for bluesy and jazzy stuff, this tube sag is what you crave.

there is some literature about this around the net, but no link right now, sorry.

there. see i AM useful to society!!! it really ticks me off too though, when people post gear porn or youtube links, as i cant view the pics half the time, and NEVER the youtube (the navy blocks it after a few of us sailor folk posted some embarassing/FTN videos)

^^Tube sag comes from the power supply- rectifier and/or transformer. Not the power tubes. What you're referring to is different than the function of this switch.
All this switch does is run the tubes at varying currents, which of course influences the sound, especially the bass response.

ah. must have read it wrong. your sig says it all, i remember learning a thing or two from you in the past. but most of what i said still holds true. about how you want your response to be. so the point is the same. that switch affects your frequency response

and im still embarassed about that first post. hahahaha
