ok
well I havnt really played guitar seriously
but I plan on starting
Some guy offered to trade me my 8gig ipod touch for:
a black epiphone dot, 25 watt fender amp, and strap amd cord
is that a good deal?
also
for the music i am looking to play, would that guitar suit my needs?
I am planning on playing psychobilly and punk
( for those who dont know psychobilly is almost like rockabilly but faster and a bit deeper tone on the guitar)
I know a lo of psycho guitarist use 50's gretsch hollow bodies so would it have the same tone and sound? i know its not as good as one of those
some examples of the music i woukd want to play are
nekromantix
tiger army
mad sin
sick sick sinners
os catalepticos

thanks

so if its a studio dot then it wont play psycho or punk good?
ive also been offered a blue de armond m 55 with an amp
would that play psycho or punk better than the dot
and if so is that a better deal for me?

Keep the iPod and save up for some better gear.

If the amp is a Frontman, then run away.

yea that amp is a front man
he said hed give me a 100 watt rogue instead though
would that be better?

You'd be better off playing unplugged to be honest.

Never played one, but judging from the reviews I've read, no.

The Epi would be a good guitar, but you could get it without giving up the iPod, and getting yourself a better amp.

but my friends has an ibanez 25 watt that i could get for free
would that be a decent amp?

It would probably be a decent starter amp, but even if it isn't, who cares? It was free.

Take it, it's free.

The guitar in itself is decent enough.

For amps, take a look at the Epiphone Valve Jr.

Hell yeah.

A Valve Junior combo would make a great rockabilly type amp. That, and it won't be obsolete when you move on to something bigger.

Oh yeah, the VJ is perfect for that. You may need to toss an overdrive in front, though. Nothing expensive - just a DOD 250 or something like that.

Yeah, the VJ is great for punk, too.

I might record a demo of the VJ for you, if you want.

Hey, thanks! I fuckin' love DK's.
