i was recently given a wah from my friend, but its got a problem. it doesnt work. when you activate the pedal it will turn on and it adds a slight wah filter effect but nothing else. even when the pedal is being rocked back and forth there is nothing but a occasional crackling sound. as far as i know the wah has never worked, and when i opened up the back, the circuit board showed no visible problems and no desoldered wires.

any ideas on what could be causing this problem would be appreciated. the wah is a dunlop crybaby gcb95 and its about 3-4 years old

and on an off note, i know there is a sticked wah mod thread, but can anyone please recommend some really good gcb95 wah mods

thanks in advance

get a cheap marshall... my MG15DFX has a button that simulates the sound of one of the expensive tube marshall amps.

Sounds like the pot is either broken of the little part that connects the pedal to the pot with gears is broken or something.

I haven't had a regular wah pedal for years so I may be way off here. But it sounds like the pot isn't turning either way.

the strange part is that the pot is actually turning all the way but nothing happens...

could it have just been a deftective wah from the factory?

It could be a faulty pot. Get a new A100k pot and see if it'll work. It could also be a bad 'voice' cap, or bad inductor. Can't really tell much without pics and/or and excrutiatingly detailed description of the problem.

There is a chance the inductor has "gone bad." A guy I worked for for 5 years bought a Crybaby for $10 because it didn't work. One of the tiny wires that connect to the inductor's lead had broke. It was a $15 fix, and he got a faisel inductor.
