Hi guys

Not sure if this is the right forum to stick this in but here goes. I've heard there is a piece of software somewhere out there, actually used it a few years back while jamming with another guitarist, that allows you to alter the tuning of a record so that you can play along with it.

i.e. you can take an Iron Maiden song and make it Eb or a GnR song and play along in E. Would save me fiddling about with constant tuning

Anyone know its name??

Well you can do that in guitar pro..... but only with MIDI. If your talking about altering the tuning of the actual recording.... I have never heard of anything like that so I can't help you. If you find it again though, send it this way! Sounds like it would be pretty handy

theres bound to be better

Audacity can do that. Just do pitch change in the effects.

Yeah, I have fond memories as a child of fapping to a porno with my close friends before sitting down for a nice relaxing evening of Runescape.

that's really easy
you should have a software like Sony Sound Forge
there you can shift the tone of the song by a number of semitones you want
e.g
your guitar is in E
and on the song the guitar is in D
you choose shift by 2 semitones, and here it is
however it does affect the quality of the recording, but not too dramatically

most recording software can do it. just put the song into a track in whatever program you use (probably audacity cuz its free, unless you have something already) and change the pitch

Almost any recording or editing software can do this...

Audacity, Reaper, Cubase, anything really. Just use Audacity, it's free and easy.
There is poetry in despair.
