ok so, im a pretty versatile player when it comes to guitar, i play a lot of stuff but my favorite stuff to play is southern rock, hardcore metal, etc. but what i have realized is that all the bands i listen to usually have a good overdrive pedal, which i lack..so i was thinking..is the EHX english muffin good?

i was impressed with the sound clips

I just picked one up off Craigslist for $75 and I like it a lot. Better than my Rat. On par with my Nady TD-1. I also have a Jekyll & Hyde to compare against. The J&H is more versatile due to the cascadable dual channels. But the tube pedals seem to have a airiness and clarity that allows the dynamics to pass through.

It's more of a distortion than an OD, imo. It's great for that classic Marshall crunch, but I don't think it would be very good for your styles of music.
