Dragonforce

Is that the response to every single "worst" thread? Like really? Even though the band isn't amazing their tone is pretty good in my opinion. To be honest, Nile's tone isn't all that good. Even though they're one of my favorite Death Metal bands.

It's an opinion. Everybody has one, I personally do not like the sound of their guitars. Herman Li is an amazing player, he just doesnt play with the tone I like.

I completely agree that everyone has an opinion. It gets extremely agitating when someone just says "Dragonforce" to every single "worse" thread without giving any actual reason why.

You think Lamb of God has bad tone...?

Opinions really ARE like assholes.

Either that or you're just plain deaf/retarded.

Dragonforce, and just about any band that has a guitarist that uses a Line 6 piece of equipment.

They sound good until the open muted notes come in. They're tone is okay, just not grreat.

Dragonforce, because it sounds way too digital, bright, and thin. At least for my taste.

I also hate the tone of most black metal bands, in general. Too low-fi and muddled together. But I know there are people who love it.

I kinda want to say Celtic Frost, but that tone is so unique at the same time.

Considering the Line 6 Vetta 2, as used by Meshuggah, is considered one of the best amps on the market, I think someone needs to stop jumping on Line 6-bashing bandwagons. Don't talk out of your arse.

Early Death tone was mehhy for me, as was Immortal's tone on some songs off of 'At the Heart of Winter' (The sound of Tragedy Blows.... was so bad at times).

On the opposite end, Opeth's tone is outstanding (to me), it's really heavy, but at times, it sounds like the palm muted notes should go in a classic rock band, it's just really odd. Same with Carcass tone, it's monstrous, but at times...I'm confused, they're both unique and for that I respect 'em.

^ The best part of Meshuggah (to me) is the guitar tone and the drumming.

Blasphemy!

To me, that tone sounds like giant chainsaws cutting through necro ice-sculptures.

Bloodbath on Resurrection Through Carnage
Beneath The Massacre
Winds of Plague (Except the solos)

The Black Dahlia Murder would definitely be my first choice here. Some of their stuff is pretty good, but their guitarist sounds terrible when he tries to solo, and it's not just because of his skill.

So you think Andy Timmons has bad tone? He has a line6 POD in his rack unit. I also say that Bumblefoot has pretty good tone and he uses the Vetta heads.

I agree on Dragonforce though; I love the Laney tone (I have a GH50L) but they just make it sound bad; somehow it goes from being full and organic to sounding thin, brittle and sterile. I don't know of any other band that uses Laney amps that I don't like the tone of.

The tone from Nothing onwards is unique, to say the least. Perfectly suited, no fizz in sight-just right for ridiculously low tuned stuff like that.

Have to agree the clean tone on "one" just sounds terrible.

As bad as the clean tone is the distortion is much worse; it has almost no cut whatsoever but we can all recognize how bad the production on the album as a whole is.

I agree with a vote for Bloodbath's Resurrection Through Carnage and ...AJFA, though I too love both those records

Damageplan...
signature Dime-tone was *not as present as it had been before*
could it have been the switch to Krank?
though still a halfway decent album, when looked at w/o comparing previous recordings

I quite liked the Damageplan album and thought Dime's tone on it was better than most of his other works; his tone was never that great to begin with IMHO.

WTF?

His tone was INSTANTLY recognizeable. NO ONE sounded like Dime.
That to me is good tone... when you sound original and unique.
I guess "parametricly speaking" his tone is ****ed, but it works for his style, and that's what counts.

Just because you have heard about 5 metal bands doesn't mean NO ONE sounded like Dime. What set his tone apart from countless other guitarists?
