Sup pit?

right so I'm teaching some young kid to teach guitar, just the basic sort of thing really, chords and whatnot. Basically I need some very basic songs to teach him. You know, anything thats basically made up of G, C, D, A

also I need to educate this guy on good musicians considering the poor kid doesn't know who the Beatles were. So as well as some songs to teach him I'm going to make him a CD of some of the best songs, so feel free to throw in some suggestions for that as well.

Must if they break for me, better sounds come from the way you play more-so than the strings.

He is not worthy. ****, I've been listening to them since early elementary school.

Anyway, go to the advanced search for tabs and in the filter search for "novice" tabs.

Knowing good musicians might not help his guitar playing but here we go:
Beatles
Dream Theater
ACDC (Bon Scott era, preferably off the If you want blood album)
.38 Special
Rush
SRV
Deep Purple (NOT Smoke on the Water, give him Burn or Woman from Tokyo)
Def Leppard
The Who
Black Sabbath(please limit the number from the Paranoid album, try Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath)
and everyone needs "Linus and Lucy" from the Christmas Charlie Brown TV Special

+1 on the Cannibal Corpse... frankly it depends on what he wants to learn... for basic rock dynamics... simple things like early Green Day and Offspring are good since it helps develop some timing. Jimmy Eat World is good for utilizing different structures of chords. Most kids now adays will get bored with a lot of the classic stuff so go gently into it with early 90's punk/grunge then go further down into the wonderful creamy center that is 60's-80's...sorry i just ate a milky way...

The wall- Pynk Floyd
Immigrant song- Led Zeppelin
I miss you-Blink 182

I've been listening to them since... like a year or so ago. I'm really not convinced by them, I find them fairly boring.

Liking the Beatles =/= being a 'worthy' musician.

Also, actaderock, is that part of your post or supposed to be your sig?

You don't have to like them, but everyone should at least know of them and their influence on the genre.

and the influence is pointed out in RU's sig
