A poem I wrote after a (seemingly) traumatizing experience. I think it carries a greater message that all people can relate to:

As The Night Carries On.

I stand in the black
My head filled with a warning
Awaiting the inevitable.
Foreboding: the danger will come
As the night carries on.

I hear the all familiar screams
New to me; distant
I question reality
I hear the drums of the dissident
As the night carries on.

People, scattering
Clash with one another
I scurry to my hide-away
To remain unseen
As the night carries on.

Voices; panic around me
It trembles in it’s own wake
Like a fired cannon
Surrealism has take control
As the night carries on.

Quickly; like a violent storm
As masterfully as it jolted me
It leaves with equal warning
The evil has passed
But the night carries on.
Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens.

When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace.
