So Im between a Jackson Soloist slh2 or Mesa boogie Roadster half stack .Im very unsure as I do have a peavey half stack but i love the roadster but i still have a starter guitar so I need help picking out what i should get,so any advice? And Im a very big metal head my band is going to start gigging soon.

You're not seriously going to play a starter guitar through a Roadking are you? If your amp is already good and you're going to start gigging, you need a reliable and good quality guitar first of all.

Sell the Peavey and the guitar and get a used Roadster halfstack and a decent guitar. Amp>guitar as far as sounding good

Its impossible to find a roadster used.

Go for the amp.
Sell your current half stack, buy a new guitar.
But get the amp first. You'll be happier in the long run
#16
but then again im not extremely comfortable with my bolt on ibanez starter strat looking guitar.I really fell in love with the jackson soloist slh2
#17
Just trust us and get the amp. It'll be way better than a new guitar for your tone.

That looks like a Grandpas amp..... (skwisgaar voice)

I would get the amp.. Also here is an example new guitar through that amp tiny change in tone. Starter guitar through a Roadking HUGE change in tone...

sell amp and buy a used jackson dk2m and still buy the roadster
Amp-5150 Block Letter

Cab-Recto 4x12

Guitar-Jackson DKMG

Pedals-to many to name

If you don't like the guitar, how bout lower your budget a bit and get something like a used Mark IV instead and a used cab or an avatar 2x12 or something? That would free up a lot of cash that would've been spent on a new Roadster stack and will allow you to get a better guitar as well.

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

Okok I'll buy the amp head get a cheap 4x12 and then get me a jackson soloist next year?Thats good idea no?
#25
I wouldn't skimp out on the cab, if you're going to go cheap, get a 2x12, you'll get a much better 2x12 than a 4x12 if you're on a low budget.

Mark IV+Avatar Cab+Jackson Soloist= happy ObliviousEnd and happy wallet.

+1 that would be way more cost efficient. The Mark IV isn't a Roadster, but I still prefer it. Not to mention the Roadster heads are pretty hard to come by used, you could get a Mark IV head for around $1200, cab for $500 or so and then you'd still have $800 left for a guitar of your choice.

And that is being generous. I see Mark IVs go much cheaper than that. He could even go for the combo for cheaper.
