Have you ever had an experience where you told your friends about a band you just love only for them to stare you blankly in the face and reply, "Who?"

Post some of your favorite lesser-known artists that more people should be listening to.

I'll start. Absolutely nobody I know has ever heard of ......And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead....but I think they're pretty damn awesome.

Children of Bodom. While they're coming larger everyday, hardly anybody I know has heard of them.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

While Children of Bodom is insanely awesome, they're still pretty big as far as metal goes.

I recently heard some stuff by this Finish death metal band 'Sotajumala'. They're pretty good, but nowhere have I seen their music except for a few songs on youtube.

Every metalhead, goth, scene kid, hardcore kid knows them. If you go around asking your grandpa he might get puzzled.

Clutch- this band kicks ass and they've progressed from grungey/sludge rock to blusey/sludge rock, check out The Elephant Riders if you get the chance.
Oct. 20th, 2009: New guitar AND front row for Mars Volta.

Is that a ukulele in your pants, or did you just rip ass to the tune of "Aloha Oi"?

I met Sonic Youth on June 30th, and Mars Volta on Oct 20th.

I've heard half of those bands.

:/

Most people I know haven't heard so much as ten of them, sadly.

I'd recommend hearing the second half, btw.

I've heard of some of those bands.

mewithoutYou should stay 'underground'. The music scene is bad enough, we don't need more crap like mwY.

Anyways, I don't have anything to add to this thread, most bands I listen to are at least known by some people.
