I'm doing OCR physics A, today i took my forces and motion paper resit... i either did worse than last time or just 100% failed. I took my Electrons and photons paper straight after and answered no more then 3 questions. I then took my Wave properties paper straight after that and answered a whole zero of the questions.

However, last night i did 2 practice papers for each of these modules and got no worse than a C.

Fair enough, they are trying to make exams harder but why the f*ck are we the guinea pigs? if they are going to make the exams harder surely they should think about making the teaching better first!!! For instance, on my electrons and photons paper i was shown a cathode ray oscilliscope, the question was something like show what happens to the waveform if you increase the timebase but i've never even seen an oscilliscope!!! not once in the whole year that i have been taught as physics have they shown me an oscilliscope yet they expect me to answer a f*cking question on this machine!!!

/Rant

sorry if this seems pointless, maybe some people will have views but i needed to vent my frustration because my mum got tired of it and started to shout at me.

I feel your pain.

A-Levels were difficult enough, IMO, but it's completely wrong to use the REAL exams, which affect thousands of people's future, as a test bed.

yea true, i thought that in my maths exams though in january because it seemed all the people i know that took AQA maths thought it was hard, i still got an E

exactly, i was relying on physics to get me into uni to do engineering as well.

The way they usually find what percent right = each grade is by saying the top 5% get an A*, 10% get an A etc.
So theoretically if this happened to EVERYONE, you're in with a chance of decent grade; good luck!

You should have studied more. I didn't say that you didn't study at all. You've done 2 past papers. Well done. If you'd studied more you would have been able to answer more questions. I fail to see why my statement is wrong.

you've just assumed that i only did 2 past papers as revision, when i've been revising for the whole year after every module.

so yes your statement is wrong because your jumping to conclusions with no evidence.

If you've never handled an oscilloscope, it's your school that's let you down.

It's not though. My premise is that if you'd studied more you would have done better. Why is that wrong?

so i should have gone out and bought a cathode ray oscilliscope and figured out how to use one should i?

If your school hasn't given you the necessary skills and you would like to know what you're doing with them, and if you plan on taking a physics or electronics degree, definitely.
