I'm bored, and don't know what songs to learn anymore.

I'm looking for something thats either in standard or drop d.
maybe something that might take me some time to learn,
oh...genre doesnt really matter...preferably metal.

any song is welcomed.
thanks

Try writing your own "metal" song in standard tuning! It is much more fun and time-consuming... you said "I'm bored"... so there you have it!

Or if your having trouble composing you could take an exisisting non metal song and transform it into a metal cover. Mabye a classic rock song or something old pop song or something. This is a good way to cure bordom if making songs from scratch is to frustrating. I personal cant sit their and make up songs/riffs it has to come to me first if i force it it wont work. Or at least it doesnt work as well

Try an Every Time I Die song, those are always challenging.
At least for me.
Not metal, though. They're hardcore/mathcore.

Chug an E note, than play powerchords in the key of Eminor on the A string. Make it rhthymic.

Instant metal song. Sure it wont sound THAT good, but its a song.

If you're gunna write something, write down some cool sounding guide notes, for instance, in standard tuning, some notes/chords you could play around with are:

|----------------
|----------------
|----------------
|--2--3--5--6--
|--2--3--5--6--
|--0--1--3--4--

(that's a really simple one but you get the picture)

etc. etc. then play around with them.

if you wanna cover songs, Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, and Most Black Metal are in Standard, and Vital Remains are in drop D, can't be arsed thinking of more, but go on the metal tunings thread and look under standard and drop D

oh, and btw, since your avatar in Avenged Sevenfold, they use drop D too

"dude these cosin's are brutal"
"you think thats bad? this linear algebra is the most vicious thing ever"

seriously though.....

anything by metallica from kill'em all up through the black album, all but i think 3 or 4 songs are in E standard. so that gives you around 45 songs there.

Thrash...

NWOBHM...

Random godlly german bands....

So what do we have?

Maiden
Priest
Accept
Helloween
Hammerfall
Exciter
Overkill
Whiplash
Blind Gaurdian
Exodus
Rhapsody
Iron Witch
Blitzkrieg

And then like 50million others...

Most non-modern songs are in standard. Further more, you can play a song thats droped in standard... Just move everything up 2 frets other then the E and your done. And if they don't drop (droping is evil) then you don't have to do anything, just play it normall and you get a diffrent sound!

Made of Tears by Satriani...the live version...unbeatable

Excellent call.

If you're looking for a cool song with great solos, try Maiden's "Powerslave".
