Yeah. The good thing about a computer is that it is a long-term investment. You'll get a lot of use out of it.

(I don't mean to validate your problem with spending.)

at least you bought something you're going to use. as long as you dont spend your money on random crap you're only going to use once or never use at all.

were you saving that money up for anything in particular? because if you weren't then who cares? at least you put it to good use...

i constantly spend my money on everything and anything that i dont need.

mainly beer and drugs.

by a few g's of yayo and you'll find yourself in the hole pretty damn fast.

You bastard, you should have donated the money to poor monks in tibet. But noooo... you went and bought something you do not require, you capitalistic swine.

I hope your mac breaks

How much money do you donate to monks? If you're going to do charity, why chose Tibetan monks?

You want an impulse buy? Try $2000 worth of fireworks. Or going up to random people in the street and giving them money. Or better yet, shouting everyone in a bar a drink, especially on a really busy night. That last one would be seriously wicked to do. Or get a car or a moped or something, for the mean transportation styles. Or a gun.

But not a bloody mac for god's sake..... that's hardly an impulse buy, getting the "cool" computer, it's hardly original......

I have no need for earthly posetions. I donated everything I own, including my clothes, and I donate sperm on a daily basis.

Yea, but any good impulse buy should be at least a bit original. Or else you might as well just buy a mac......

I'm hearing a steady *thump thump* from the people above me and I need some porno grooves to play on my bass to give them some background music. Any ideas?

Well, an impulse buy should be a memorable thing. Considering they tend to be a practical waste of something, it makes sense for them to have some kind of x-factor quality that makes you thankful you did it. It's not like buying groceries where you wonder "did I get the right stuff?", it's more about the actual buying process itself, and the spark you get after it.

I'm not saying an impulse buy should be something where you buy something useless, but the idea is that you get a buzz from buying it, and are able to use it effectively even after the buzz wears off, to an extent. Basically, it should have an after-effect, but that takes second seat the the feeling you get from buying it, the buzz.

And regards to there being standards, well, you asked if it was a good buy (i.e. good thing to do), so you just answered your own question. Anything that can be good or bad has standards (definitions of good).

I don't think I agree with you, but well done. I actually enjoyed reading that.
