hmm... I learned all of the basics
I recently learned sweep picking.
I am not learning soloing in depth.
I been playing guitar for a little over 2 years.

what the hardest thing you learned... for me its soloing. i forget the scales on the higher notes. i could argue sweeping but i just can't do it fast

obviously, the most important thing to learn on the guitar is how to hold it and look cool so you can get as many chicks as posible, i believe.

I'd say the most important thing is tuning your damn guitar.

Close, but the most important thing would be to play the guitar, letting it sit there and staring at is isn't going to make you better.

As with any instrument, learn to express your musical thoughts.

Nothing more, nothing less.

I think Sweep Picking efficiently is a very hard thing to do fast and clean, but I agree with him on chord progression.

Most important is songwriting skills in my opinion.
I'm the same as I was when I was six years old
And oh my god I feel so damn old
I don't really feel anything

The hardest and most important is forming your own style. Always a work in progress.... for any player.

I'd say it's memorising which frets are which notes, and the scales that they can be used in, and such like....helps greatly with improvising, which is what I tend to do the most when I play.

Learning the basic chords (G, C, A minor, etc) is also quite handy.

I think theory would be the most important thing cause a musician not being able to read music is like a painter not being able to name the colors.

One could argue,

A painter could know the name of all the colors, and not know how to use them well.

As, a musician might no necessarily know much theory, and be able to put together a beautiful piece of music.

Theory does no good without a good musical ear, and the ability to apply it properly.

Just as, a color does no good without the skill the paint something with it.

Your analogy makes little sense.

i think the most important thing you need to know to play guitar is how to fret notes
How do I change my sig?
#30
Tuning, open chords, power chords, barre chords, basic scale theory (major scale, etc), pentatonic scale (I'll admit, I use it for everything)

in that order
#31
Memorize the fretboard. Do that first and the theory, songwriting, and everything else is much easier.
