"2nd Nocturne"

Of all the pieces
He tries to play,

He is drawn to the
Chopin Nocturnes
most of all.

He believes their publication
Was purposefully withheld;

He cannot escape the feeling
That there is something sepulchral about
The three of them, even something
Moribund in their starkness,

In the distance of their melody
As though beneath a sheet
Behind a veil.

In the climaxes, like sighing a breath
of dust.

That they end deliberately.
