I just bought a jackson warrior xt and I play it through a Marshall Mg30. I'v been playing for a year so i'm basically a noob--now what should I do to get a sound like trivium, metallica, iron maiden(slight difference I know)?should I get a pedal, change pickups or buy a new amp?

Any opinion would be appreciated...don´t just say new amp or new pickup, mention model please

get rid of that amp! seriously, you could get much better in about the same price range or a little more.

Save up for a 5150 from ebay (400-500). you should be satisfied with the modern to 80s metal tones it brings.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

^ decent one for 400 sold today

I've honestly never seen one on ebay go for over 600, I don't check 5150s often, however. but if you just wait for the right time and check alot, it won't be hard at all to get one around 400-500.
