So which speaker is better for metal/hardcore?
I've looked around and came down to these two
V30
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Celestion-Vintage-30-Speaker?sku=660230
and
G12T-75
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Celestion-G12T75-12-Speaker?sku=660222
Also extra suggestions would be nice.

Edit: Its also for my 50 watt tube combo if that helps any.

Personally, I prefered the V30. Very high on the upper mids, so you can get away with scooping slightly on the mids and still retain some clarity.

Used by such bands as:

Metallica
Megadeth
Iron Maiden
Killswitch Engage

Yes as long as the impedance is the same.

Ah OK sounds good thanks. =)
The thing is i have the G12T-75 in my amp right now but I've heard that the V30 is better and was hoping it will be. Jeez the G12T got trashed in that poll haha.

Well, if you're going from one Celestion to another then it probably won't be as much as when I replaced my POS Valveking speaker with the V30. You'll probably notice the difference, though it will be more apparent at high volumes. As to whether you'll like the difference, well tha all depends on the voicing/tone of your amp. If it's high gain the Vintage 30is a sure bet though.

The G12T-75 probably got trashed out of ignorance. That's the speaker that goes into Marshal 1960 cabs. at least half the (whatervercore) shows I go to have guitarists with dual recs, SLO's, and 5150's into Marshall 1960's. Hmm.

Only the 1960A and B. the others are different. But the G12's are good for really heavy stuff at lower volumes IMO.

One is not better than the other, jsut different tools. Vintage 30's break up easily so I find them to not handle huge overdrive very clearly. G12 75's have a wider gap between the Mid and High Frequencies. Listen to any Recording by Zack Wylde or Randy Rhoads to hear this. Its hard to describe.

Dude don't get either one..

Celestion G12K-100 get these. They're newer 100W celestions that slay both the V30 and G12-75's for metal.

I dislike V30s each n every time I play.

I agree. Earsplitting treble spikiness is not fun under any circumstances. With a really high gain head I suppose it would cut through the sludge, but with cleans or any light-medium overdrive it's terribly bright. No smoothness at all.
