i just bought star wars battlefront II and when i play it, the gameplay is like reaaaaaaally laggy, so i went through all my files and deleted a bunch of pictures, music, and documents. It's a little faster, but not much. What are some other ways to quit it from laggin?
Check out my music, if you please.

Its not whats on your computer, its whats in it, you need a graphics card update most likely, prolly add on a little RAM while you're at it.
#3
minimize the number of processes your running at once, 20 is a good number

open up task manager, and end every process except svchost, explorer, and everything with system or network service.

i end a couple of system's too, but that's because i know what they are.

i'm running 18 at the moment, and that's with two essentials for my mouse.

The fastest way is to go to laggfree.com and do the tutorials there. Even though its for setting up a css server alot htem help alot. Just do the ones you are comfortable with doing. And if you really want the fastest way? Get a new computer. There very cheap for a good one nowadays. Just don't buy a dell or any of the branded ones. Get your local store to build you one and ask what you need it to do. They will glasly help.

Also defrag your computer and use lower graphics settings on the game if you can.

explorer.exe takes up a lot. open task manager and end process. End "explorer.exe"

I just run everything from task manager. if you need it back on, just click on "Start new process" or w/e and type "explorer.exe" again.

Use the start menu to go into msconfig and disable unnecessary startup items. Once you've cleared out all the programs that don't need to be running in the background, you'll have more memory open and EVERYTHING will go a bit faster.

You don't have to be a computer whiz, just use common sense and disable things that aren't needed on startup, like Windows Media Player, Adobe Reader, etc.

No. A Windows Reload will do the same thing. It's about a hundred bucks to get a technician to do it. Geek Squad does it for like $115 or something. Basically, you wipe the hard drive, re-install windows, and then put your data back on the hard drive. Takes about 3 hours, and it's really easy. You just need someone else's computer to backup your data before you clear the drive.

You're an idiot if you pay that much. All you have to do it put the windows disk in and then reboot and do what it says. Installing Windows is just as easy as installing anything else.

True. I'm still learning about all this computer stuff, but doesn't Windows clear your data when you install it? I know there is some reason why the data on the hard disk needs to be backed up to another computer and then replaced once Windows is installed.

If you format your hard drive, yes. There is really no point in re-installing unless you format. If you don't format, you are just repairing but it screws more things up than it fixes. When you install windows, you have the choice to format or repair.

It doesn't need to be another computer, you can store your stuff on anything. A flash drive, external hard drive, CDs, DVDs, etc.

Well, assuming he only has one hard drive in his PC, and depending on how much data is on it, where else would you store it when you format the drive?

I'm just going by my very basic knowledge of this... point is, TS should clean up his startup configuration for a quick and easy fix, but should ultimately do a Windows reload once he has time.

Formating and reinstalling windows is not needed unless you are getting lots errors or things are not working.

To FirewindRaging: You have 2 csrss.exe processes running, which means one of them is a virus, spyware, whatever. You should google up "csrss.exe" and just find how to get rid of it, because 1 of them is the real deal, which is critical to your computer (well, that's what google said to me) and the extra is just a virus trying to hide.
Yes I am from Hawaii.

Bitlord and Internet Explorer seem to be hogging ram. Try replacing bitlord with utorrent, maybe try firefox or opera, opera is probably easier on the ram.
#30
Right, I got Firefox and I'm using uTorrent but I still have about 65 processes left and since some people are saying they only have 18 surely there must be LOADS I can end

Dude, you have BitLord running in your processes, so obviousyl you download stuff, so why don't you just download a program that cleans your registry? Or just get a serial for the one you already have...

Guys, stop telling him to 'clean his registry' and 'delete porn' and 'delete useless files'. You can't make a crappy computer better by deleting some files. You need a better graphics card, possibly processor possibly RAM. And it sounds like your one of the annoying people over at the Steam forums who complain about not being able to run games on their Intel Integrated Graphics Laptops.

To be honest though you could always delete the system32 folder. Basically it's a folder windows barely uses when the other 32 system blocks are full (those are inside the motherboard). Just go to C:/, then WINDOWS, then delete system32. You might need to show hidden files too, they try and hide this stuff so you buy more components from Windows, basic business practice really. Just google it, I haven't had to do it for ages now since I deleted my system32 folder. Just speeds up the pipelines of the processor clock and a whole bunch of other crap. I got about +20 fps on all my games which is much better!
