My lead guitarist is looking at getting an amp for gigging, he's not sure what to get, he was looking at blue junior atm but is there anything else that he should consider, bare in mind he doesn't want a 'Laney Vc30' cos he'd think he was 'copying' myself, which I think is dumb but ah well lol.

He'll be wanting to play some indie and some classic rock through it.

Maybe if you are lucky you could find an AC30. I think it is ridiculous that he doesn't want the VC, it is a fine amp. He could also look into the LC (?) series. Peavy Classic 30 would be good as well. Maybe a blackheart Handsome Devil?

peavey classic 30? assuming the vc30 works for your band's style of music, the peavey looks and sounds a bit different, but is aimed at a similar style of music.

not going for the same amp isn't actually a bad idea, as two different amps on at the same time might sound better than two of the same. that could be BS, though...
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

So no love for the blues junior, is it loud enough to gig?

You could find an LC30 for 350. very good amps. modern though, so not really for indie.

^ yeah, i had thought of the lc30, that's why i didn't suggest it. it's worth a look definitely. so's the blues junior, if it's loud enough to compete with the vc30.
