So for my project at school, I need two songs from the 70s to play. They should be short, so maybe a 30 second section.

I've already got the intro to Stairway to Heaven as one of them. Now I'm looking for a good riff or intro with some distortion. Must be from 70s. Help?

EDIT: It should be fairly easy. I don't have long to learn it.

Something by Black Sabbath.

Paranoid, Iron Man, Warpigs, faeries wear boots, snowblind, they've got like 8 albums worth from the 70's.

I was thinking maybe Iron Man or Smoke on the Water, but both are far too cliche and will get repetitive if I play the riffs for 30 seconds.

haha, that would be a good suggestion, but i think it is too soon. right now, it would probably be called "that one Carls' Jr. song!"

Rock n' Roll Hoochie Koo - Rick Derringer[?] (Kinda corny song, but it's got some really cool riffs)

I'd Love to Change the World - Rainbow (Best song evar, especially if you can work in both the acoustic and elec) -Edit- Sorry, it's by Three Days After.

Pretty much any Thin Lizzy, especially for that sexy porno bass

I second the Peter Frampton and Ziggy Stardust. In retrospect, despite Stairway's popularity, you must acknowledge the influence of both of those songs. In both cases, we would never have had glam rock, never have had the disrespect for glam rock, therefor never have had the complete popularity of Nirvana, and never would have had all of the minimalist/alternative music we have today.

what the heck kinda school project is this?
i've never had a sweet project like this before.
and how come out of all the thousands of classic rock songs out there you cant think of any?
#37
I was looking for something with a fairly easy, but interesting riff. It should be at least decently well known. That narrows down the thousands of classic rock songs. Besides, I'm not a classic rock expert. I'm more into modern stuff. 1980s upwards.

Since it's for school, why not do "School's Out" by Alice Cooper?

Also try some Ted Nugent.
