it all depends on how much money you are willing to put into it . and then how much you want to sell it for. quite simple really
Fender American Standard Stratocaster
Ibanez TS-9
EHX Big Muff Pi
Companion Fuzz Box
EHX Pulsar
Boss DD-6
Fender Hot Rod Deville 212

you never make money in a pawn shop unless you got something for free.
#4
You'd almost certainly lose money. That doesn't mean you shouldn't try it, though. Do it for fun.
#5
90% chance you'd lose money. The only way I can think of that you'd make money is if you'd find one for less that it's worth in the first place, or one that's already good but has a lot of paint missing.

Depends on the pawn shop. I've been to a few around here looking for some beaters to masacre but they always use eBay as a pricing guide which can kill a lot of deals. Stupid junk yard does the same thing now as well.

you'll lose. better yet, buy it, fix it, have fun, play it!

If your lucky and can find a good guitar for a cheap price then maybe you will make a little money. But you will find everybody wants to buy low sell high. Ive seen many of the ridiculous offers people make on guitars on ebay.

i'm calling bullshit on this one.
nobody walks away from a $100 gibson anything unless it's a basket-case.
or a fake.
or stolen.

It's not totally unheard of, and it's not as if everyone has heard of Gibson. While unlikely, (and I do mean I don't believe the $100 Gibson story), pawn shops are given a rough time.

On topic, instead of pawn shops, check second hand stores in your area; avoid places like Goodwill (they're national and don't sell locally received items) but search around, my best finds are a $2 Ibanez acoustic with hardshell. Also look at smaller things like amps, I bought a Kustom dart for $2.50 and sold it to Music Go Round for $20.
