what amp would work best for psychedelic rock?

From Jefferson Airplane, Troggs, Zombies, Iron Butterfly, etc., and everything in-between. Also, I'm going to be running my Casino though this, so keep that in mind. I also want an amp with a trebley voicing to offset the hollow-body thin-ness and bass.

~30W combo 1x12 (loud enough for small to medium-sized gigs with a drummer, lead, bass)

closed-back (to keep dust out, and so I don't have to worry 'bout accidentally knocking tubes around)

simple controls (3-band EQ, volume, gain)

NO AMP/EFFECT MODELLING (reverb and tremolo are fine)

Not too heavy (~30-40 lbs.)

(2x12 if not too heavy, see above ^)

bright, trebley voicing

~$300-$500 budget

What would you recommend that would meet the above?

You're not gonna find a closed back, but hot rod deluxe or a peavey classic 30 would probably do ya well.

Nice Clean tone, As Closed as a Tubed amps back will get Due to safety precautions.
And Has Reverb and Overdrive.

PS: I would Recomend A DD-6 or DD-7 With this amp for Phsycadelic Music. According to my experience your gunna need some delay to fill in for that sound. Also a Good Vibrato but these Are just my suggestions.

I agree with the Crate. Looks like a really good amp for your style. And it has 2 channels, which is good as well.

the crate's the one I've been looking into for a few weeks so...

also for effects, deffmetal666, I plan to use a chorus, phaser, tremolo, and the Space Echo (all from Boss).

I noticed the Fender Blues Jr. has the same tubes, 3 12AX7's and EL-84's.

They should sound somewhat in the ballpark of each other right?
or not?

Fender Deluxe Reverb?

Casino + DRRI = teh secks.

But it's a little out of your price range, unless you find a killer deal. A Peavey Delta Blues would do you nicely, though. Used, of course. I'd think you'd want a good tremolo circuit. You could go extra retro, and look into Silvertone or Airline if you're feeling adventurous.
You Don't Need a halfstack.

You Don't Need 100W.

I'd have to try it out before I bought it, of course, I'm confident it will be pretty good actually. reviews look promising.

Unfortunately, noone in town has these, only SS versions. but I want tube, so...

hopefully they'll get some in. otherwise, I guess I'll take a chance.

Take a look at the traynor YCV50 which is British voiced, I have it and it is perfect for psychedelic stuff. You might even wanna look at the YCV40 series which is slightly more modern sounding. IF you are in north America that is.

Traynor amps are name brand. I've played the YCVBlue and it's a pretty good amp, maybe not great for what you want.

Don't want to come off as a jerk but you've posted already a thread about an amp today, and if memory serves me right, I've seen about 4 or 5 of your threads asking for a "country-style" amp, a "solid state" amp, and about 1000 other things... try to keep it to one or two threads and not post 100000 of them.

As far as amps, since you refuse to go used and want "closed-back" (because of "dust damage"...) I'd say the Crate isn't a bad buy... going used would be a significantly better idea, not much in your price range that you can play around with, that's the honest truth... Tiny Terror would be good, maybe see if you like a Peavey Windsor Studio.

By the way, just because you haven't heard of it doesn't mean its not "name brand"... more and better amps exist than just Fender, Marshall and Crate.

This place is for asking questions, but try and condense them into one or two threads.

only name-brand amps 9amps everyone has heard of, even if not in music whatsoever)

I just clicked on your profile. Can you get one of those amps off your dad? The Ampeg and Silvertone would both probably be great for you. In fact, if that's the kind of stuff your dad has, maybe you should be using him as a resource.

He may've even heard of Airline and Traynor.
