I've been in the market for a new guitar for a while, and was all set on a PRS Custom 22 or 24.

However I've got the chance to get a JM Custom strat for basically half the retail price. It is as new (I've checked it out, not a mark on it).

Anyone had much experience with them? I really like the sound of the Big Dipper pickups, and I'm in a trio at the moment that would really suit this guitar.

Any opinions?

i wouldnt get it. i really don't like the big dipper pickups. he probably dosent use them. they have scooped mids and when i play jm i use fairly heavy mids so....

Well see thats the thing. Here in Australia it retails for just under 4k. I can get a decent PRS for that amount. However I can get the thing for 2k. That is a real bargain down here.

yeah welcome to my world, we get shafted, especially considering that most stuff comes out of Asia! It doesn't have to travel far so why do we have to pay 3 times as much as the US?!

That's something I've always wondered, only think I can think of it not as much demand. You'd think that would just decrease the supply, but if people don't buy in bulk then they tend to pay more, so I think that's all what it filters down to. But I have no idea, I've always wondered why the hell Aus. gets the short end of the stick

Heck I'd buy from musiciansfriend.com but they don't do international shipping. They'd make a killing if they did.
