We need a proper Caliban thread.
Love, hate, whatever.

Caliban - German Metalcore band.
Pretty decent, nothing special.
Seen 'em once on their last Aussie tour with Gigantour, seeing 'em again on their next Aussie tour this August.

I enjoy them somewhat. *sips martini*

I don't like them enough to want to go heaps, but Her Nightmare are supporting, which leads to a reaction of *left click "buy now" button*

I love them
maybe it's a little bit of patriotism but who cares? XD
I'm totally obsessed by the song "the beloved and the hatred" at the moment

The most generic metalcore band out there. They kinda define the " Generic metalcore " sound.

It was in his interview in Metal: A Headbanger's Journey.

Bump.
New album is out.
Wow.
Shift in style much?
It's like they took every generic progression and threw them out the window and then picked all the ugliest progressions they could for it.

Listening for the first time. It's kinda boring me.
My band, Escher
My progressive rock project, Mosaic

clearly, the goal is to convert every thread into a discussion about BTBAM

I didn't say it was good
Just said they shifted stylistically.
Some of the songs still suffer from genericoreitis, but I guess that the fact they've been doing it for like...12 years....

Nah not really. They have a big dollop of melodic death metal in their sound. 'Typical' metalcore is more like As I Lay Dying and All That Remains.

Good band, not to fond of his scream though, it seems artificial, like he distorted the mic loads when recorded, especially in that first breakdown section (No mercy for the merciless, No forgiveness) in My Time has Come. Yuck.

the guitarplayer is also in Aclys which I think is better then Caliban

Caliban, can we talk about them. I have recently started listening to "I am Nemesis" non stop and it is making me very happy. Honestly, the rest of their stuff rocks too.

Thoughts?

I Am Nemesis is pretty good, there's some good atmosphere to it, but I find that the chugs get way too repetitive.

Walk Like The Dead is probably my favourite song from then.

Songs later in the album tend to be repetitive, but the first half of the album had me impressed. Currently 'We are the Many" is my favorite.

Just specifically listened to "Walk Like the Dead" and it is beautiful.

The new album makes me sad. Kinda repetitive and I like it, but it is so generic. I just can't get as into it as I could with "I am Nemesis."
