my internet won't work at my girflriends house.

it's always worked since they set it up, then suddenly yesturday it said connected with limited connectivity. so i tried to fix it and stuff and it won't have it.

it won't repair itself and i've tried to do everything i can within my knowledge.

its a wireless network and i normally have no problem, just now their internet seems to be blocking me out or something. im no computer expert so could someone explain to me what it is i need to do.

i would be very greatful as i want to play some mother ****ing diablo 2 (LOD, obviously).

cheers xoxo

Unfortunatly, I don't believe I can help you without actually being there.
1. Do you have administrator privlidges?
If not, someone may have disabled it.
2. Check your wireless card/modem and see if the connectivity is low.
3. try unplugging someone else's ethernet cord and replace it with your own, it may be the input jack.
4. do you run torrents? Torrents are a breeding ground for hackers to breed a fast connection. They may be cutting your connection in half.

Like I said, I can't know for sure unless I was there.
Sorry~*

The thing I don't get is that you're round your girlfriend's house and instead of getting some sweet sweet pussay you're attempting to play online video games.

The human mind is just totally incomprehensible sometimes.

I know how ot do this but i cant' remember, ahaha. My advice until I remember is, look at the security code on teh base of her router and put that in to your pc?

Call the ISP and speak to the tech guys nd run a trouble shoot with them?

Right,

By the sound of it, you are using a static IP address that has already been assigned via DHCP to another system, or is not on the correct subnet for your router.

To find out, click START > RUN and type CMD. Press Enter.

Now, in the black box, type in ipconfig /all >c:\ip.txt

Now, open up IP.txt(found on your C: ), and copy and paste the results in to a reply, and I'll help you!

Call up the service provider and see what's up.
My internet used to spazz out all the time, the phone line was rubbish for some reason. Called the provider up and they sent a technician to come over and fix it, he spent like 3 hours drilling away and working at it and now it works perfectly. Oh, and it was free too.

more then likely they've locked the wireless down and you're lappy hasn't got a finger print on the wireless network therefore you can't access the network at all until you get a finger print onto the network

Anything beneath the connection you are using to connect to the net. I'd guess it'll be labelled
"Wireless adapter Local Area Connection" or something like that.

Definately need the following:

DHCP Enabled
Autoconfiguration Enabled
IP Address
Subnet Mask
Default Gateway
DHCP Server
DNS Server
#21
DHCP Enabled: yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled: yes
IP Address: 169.254.105.229 (this is the autoconfiguration IP address?)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway: 169.254.105
DHCP Server - not on there
DNS Server - not on there

thanks

OK, so from this, I can determine that you have an APIPA. This is not good.

There was an earlier suggestion regarding Wifi security. I'd say this is the route of the problem. Has the router had a new password set? If so, that could be the problem. It is also possible that MAC address filtering is enabled on the router. This blocks unauthorised access to a wireless network by filtering which PCs can and can't use it.

If it's a Wifi security problem, you'll need to delete the profile you currently have for your Wifi adapter, and set up the connection again.

If it's MAC filtering, use another PC to access the router's setup page (normally by browsing to http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 or .2.1) and add the Physical Address entry in your IP.TXT file to the routers list of computers!

Pain in the ass it may be, but I reckon these are the best options you have.

thanks a lot, unfortunately we haven't got the password to log in though

her uncle who set it up should be back from holiday at the weekend so we'll get him round
