All I need to know is, who's moving to Texas?

The goal of Paulville.org is to establish gated communities containing 100% Ron Paul supporters and or people that live by the ideals of freedom and liberty.

I'm a Libertarian
It's cool. No one would dare let me near the button.

But I'm working on a telescoping finger to counter the problem.

So Watch Out!

I have one. I call it a penis.
I need one I can point downwards when it's telescoping though. I can't do hand stands.

Would you be able to grow/smoke pot there without the DEA busting your ass? If so, i'm in!

its an "underdeveloped gated community", meaning you have to build your own house. if i wanted to live in a trailer park i could move 15 miles down the road.

The community votes on all community efforts, such as utilities etc.

sounds more like a socialist commune than a libertarian community.

i consider myself to be a libertarian but this just seems like a terrible idea. very hard to pull off, and fundamentally wrong in terms of true libertarianism. true libertarianism boils down to "**** off, im going to do whatever i want as long as it doesnt interfere with you doing whatever the **** you want". There are not too many community efforts in libertarianism. Private efforts maybe, but what if someone doesnt want to vote or participate in these community efforts, or what if no one does?

good thought, but fundamentally flawed.

no. they are not declaring anarchy. they are just creating a big hippy commune masked behind the guise of libertarianism.

Then they don't, the article does talk about the 'opt out' option in each of their votes. If somebody doesn't want to take part in a particular aspect then they don't have to.

The website seems to suggest that these locations could be appearing all over the US, if the problem with the lifestyle change is the change in location that could solve your problems, of course, if the problem with lifestyle change is no more work, becoming a farmer and living off your own produce, not being part of the rest of society etc. then I guess I'll just have to start writing you postcards from libertarianland.

Hurrah!
Now they can all **** off.

freedom is a great thing. gated communities arent the way to achieve it.

its ignoring the greater problem and settling for the "outta sight outta mind" quick fix. the hippies tried this in the 60s. it didnt work.

Oh, I'll happily have a debate about what your idea of freedom is before using arguments you like to use in the religion thread to deconstruct any belief regarding freedom it's possible to have.

Isn't skepticism fun?

Sure is. It's a quick way to end any debate and still look like the winner.

It'd still be pretty sweet. Wouldn't Libertarians trying to fix the "greater problem" be paradoxical?
