i know very very little about music theory
but i'm always messing around with/tweaking chords to suit songs
i would like to know what the this chord is technically called
i'll apologize in advance if there's a specific thread for this type of question, i've never asked a theory question before

e---0
B---1
G---0
D---3
A---3
E---X

thanks
do you think you could tell me what it would be if I left the A open?

Cadd4 is probably the best way to name that. at least it's the easiest. if you left the a open it would be some weird inversion of a C chord probably.

k, thanks fellas
i needed something to tell my bandmates when i show them the song I'm writing
they get annoyed when i write something but don't know any of the theory behind it
now i can say Cadd4 instead of: some funky Cish chord

what you have written is called a Csupended4 (Csus4).

With the A string open, it would be a Cmaj add 6, but with six as the lowest note (A/C)

C over Fadd97#
or C/Fadd97#

edit: im hearing it as F, but it could very well be Cadd4
