I'm gonna buy some locking tuners for my strat, and i'm looking at the 6 in line ones for about $54. Are these about the cheapest ones i'll find, or shouldi buy a different type. they seem ok from the reviews i read. also its not really a problem if i have to drill the holes in the headstock bigger, but is there a chance that they will already be too big?

Sperzel are excellent tuners. they have no backlash. Zero.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

I found both locking and non locking sperzels to be great at holding a tuning but when you tune up to the note they're not as accurate as other brands like Gotoh.

do they have a different ratio than the gotohs that makes them not as accurate?

yes-they have a 12:1 ratio, as opposed to 14:1 (some gotohs/schallers), 16:1 (other gotohs/Schallers) or 18:1 (grover rotomatics)
