Just a quick question for anybody who owns this amp. Is there a reason I would ever want to turn the master volume down from max? I know the channel volume affects the drive, etc. so that needs to be changed b/c it alters the sound. But with the master, why not leave it at max and then use the rear attenuator to control the output volume?

Lowering the volume at the back lowers the wattage output. So if the master volume is maxed it will enable the preamp stage (?) but won't be quite as loud but will sound at it's best.

Still don't quite follow. I know the back control changes the wattage and thus lowers overall volume, but why not leave the master maxed out then? Does it do a lot to the sound? Does the best tone come with the master maxed?
