does the brand of strings really matter that much or are the all the same sounding, just depending on the gauge?
and if some are better than others which ones should i get?

most strings do sound the same but its more on how u want them to feel
i use supers cuz theyre alot easier to bend with and slid

Well as for super slimky(s) I find them not bad, but as long as the gauge is starting at .10, the hybrid ones (.09 - .46) are too slim to get enough bite if you like a big, overdriven tasty bend, but if you don't give a brown about sustain & punch go for 'em they sweep & tap pretty nicely (hybrid ones).

EDIT: As for lower gauge than .09 - .46, get some hands man, else even with a 100w boogie on 11 you'll find the sound much too thin, even with a bass pick your strings will sound like dental floss.

what about gretsch strings?
ever tried them, i love the grestch sound and do those strings do the same as every other strings or wat?
