I'm looking into buying a new guitar, and i've been noticing some have a "carved maple top" and some have "maple veneer over carved top". arent all tops veneers, and if not does it affect the tone at all?
A "carved maple top" is a solid piece of maple, about half an inch thick perhaps. A maple veneer is barely 1mm thick. It wont do much to the tone, but a solid maple top will. Hope that helps
right on, thanks
Veneers are pretty much used to add to aesthetics. They don't contribute to the tone.
