So I was walking by a pawn shop and I saw a 90's Peavey Bandit 112 for sale for $120. I tried it though, and it would crackle constantly like an old record player. It might have been the cable or the really crappy guitars he had in there, but I just couldn't get a good tone out of it. Is it still a good deal?

If it's not broken then that's a good deal. You might want to go and try it again though, if it's broken there's no use in buying it as a fixer-upper.

Bring your own cable and guitar and try it. For $120 it may be worth it if you like the tone. I see Epi Valve Jr's for sale used for less than that tho, depending on what you will be playing. Good luck.
