I REALLY love Iron Maiden. I uaually can;t go a day without one of their songs. But when I go looking for similar bands, I find nothing. Anybody have any suggestions?

Buy Maiden's entire discography. Thats all you need.
Then buy Bruce Dickinson's discography.
Then buy Blaze Bayley's discography.

Then you can come back and ask for something similar, because there is so much great music by them, why would you need anyone else who sounds similar?

Oh dear. You have much to learn young one.
If you really need to know, they are best described as NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) or Traditional Metal.

Yes, they may have inspired the whole power metal genre....but that does not make them power metal themsleves.

Fair enough, as i said i dont listen to power metal so i don't know much about it, I definitely recognize power metal influence (or rather, can see how they influenced it) though.

They did have a rather large impact on today's power metal, though.

What a pointless response.
Irony ftw.

Erm, okay then. Fine then, you genius, I say a simple remark that is rather obviously true...

And, you act like a Grade A Wombat's Ass.

1. Person claimed Maiden as a power metal band.
2. I shout them down saying they are not.
3. You randomly decide to reply saying that they influenced power metal.

Did I say Maiden did not influence power metal? Nope, I said they are not power metal. Hence your pointless response and my ironic response.

Simple remark = no discussional value, hence why bother?
But, in hindsight, we had a discussion about it, so it did.....rofl.

Regardless, there's a recommendation thread at the top of page, Dean. Ask there, as it's where such things belong.

You could always look into Judas Priest, Samson, Angel Witch, or any of the other NWOBH metal groups that were around back then. Jaguar is another good one. Just do some research. For me personally I love the NWOBHM style of metal.
My main influence is Steve Harris, followed by Steve DiGiorgio
Check out my band Eyeshot at www.myspace.com/eyeshot1122
I play Bass and I'm damn proud of it.

Now, now. You wouldn't want to end our great discussion now would you?

Seriously though (and on topic), people should use the recommendation thread more often, do people not understand what "recommendation" means?
