the song that the freddy kid in school of rock wrote was copied off of highway to hell. here is the lyrics:

School of rock:
Baby we was making straight A's
But we were stuck in a dumb days
Don't take much to memorize your life
I feel like I've been hypnotocised
And then that magic man he come to town
WHOO-WEE
He done spun my head around
He said "Recess is in session
2 and 2 makes 5 "
And now baby oh i'm alive
OH YEAH I am Alive

(CHORUS)
And if you wanna be the teachers pet
Well baby you just better forget it
Rock got no reason
Rock got no rhyme

You better get me to school on time
OH YEAH

Oh you know I was on an honor roll
Got good grades and got no soul
Raised my hand before I could speak my mind
Oh I been biting my tongue to many times
And then that magic man said to obey (A-hah)
Do what magic man do
Not what magic man say
Now can I please have the attention of the class
Todays assignment...Ahem...KICK SOME ASS!

(CHORUS)
And if you wanna be the teachers pet
Well baby you just better forget it
Rock got no reason
Rock got no rhyme
You better get me to school on time
Repeat

This is my final exam
Now y'all know who I am
I might not be your perfect son
But y'all be rockin' when I'm done

AC/DC:

Living easy, living free
Season ticket on a one-way ride
Asking nothing, leave me be
Taking everything in my stride
Dont need reason, dont need rhyme
Aint nothing I would rather do
Going down, party time
My friends are gonna be there too

Im on the highway to hell

No stop signs, speed limit
Nobodys gonna slow me down
Like a wheel, gonna spin it
Nobodys gonna mess me round
Hey satan, payed my dues
Playing in a rocking band
Hey momma, look at me
Im on my way to the promised land

Im on the highway to hell
(dont stop me)

And Im going down, all the way down
Im on the highway to hell

well atleast there almost the same.
got any other lyrics that were copied (different bands, not this song in particular)

Your dumb. That's a phrase, and don't think that ACDC made it up. Just because two songs use the same phrase doesn't mean they copied. SO next time you make a thread, make sure it isn't stupid. Thanksyou.

Maybe it's in there as a tribute to the song? Hell, Jack Black was dressed like Angus Young in the film when they performed it. That sort of thing happens a lot. For example, Love Boat Captain by Pearl Jam-

"It's already been sung but it can't be said enough, all you need is love"

A tribute to the song by the Beatles. Hell, it happens with band names too. Between the Buried and Me comes from a Counting Crows song.

Wow... Theres two lines from the song in common...

You know, that song was also ripped off from Stairway To Heaven...

The whole idea of the movie is that Jack Black's character loved ACDC, and the like. Besides, it's one freaking line. This probably happens with millions of songs.

How old are you?

It wasn't even Freddie who wrote it was it? Wasn't Freddie the drummer? Not that it matters anyway.

Doesn't Counting Crows' name come from one of their own songs too? There's a line in "A Murder of One" that says "As you stood there counting crows". Sure I read it on wiki or somewhere like that.

And to TS, one line is hardly a copied song is it?

Yes and No. The band had been around for 2 years before the release of August and Everything After. A Murder of One, and the band name, is based on a rhyme from the film Signs of Life (I think that was it)

Muse- 'Fury': 'Faith, it drives me away'
stole from
Radiohead- 'My Iron Lung': 'Faith, you're driving me away'

Patchwork Grace- 'Lovely': 'Place your trust in me completely, it's over man, I mean it really'
stole from
Daisy Chainsaw- 'Love Yor Money': 'Place your trust in us completely, you're natural stars and I mean it really'

It's not like anyone claimed they were completely original lyrics.

Unlike Led Zeppelin did with a couple of theirs.

Is that the Digital 45 thing? If so I look forward to hearing them

John Nolan took a stanza from Seventy Times 7 by Brand New. It was because the song is directed to Jesse Lacey though.
"Is that what you call tact?
You're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back.
So let's end this call and end this conversation."

I believe the proper term is "allusion" as in "I alluded to that ACDC song Highway to Hell in this song, so as to reinforce the dominant rock theme in this movie."

Tank you veddy much.
