Im kind of nw to metal, so whats the main differnce between the main types of metal, like thrash, death, black and others I'm missing. I think I have a small idea of the differences but not really.
Just listen to different types of metal, you'll learn fast. Also, go to the recommendation thread, I think they give a short synopsis of the different sounds of the genres.

Viking fact no. 1: Viking helmets did not have horn.
Viking fact no. 2: Vikings tobogganed on their shields into battle.
Viking fact no. 3: Vikings drank mead.
Viking fact no. 4: One of your ancestors are likely to have been raped by a viking.
What you need to do is take some typical examples, and listen whilst reading Wiki articles, so you can understand and hear the elements.

Hmm judging from your pic you'd fit in more with a fat busted tribute.
They sound different and have different aesthetics, obviously. LURK MOAR!!!

There's also alot of heavy music that isn't metal, don't confuse these with metal or you'll get double flamed.
