I recently viewed this movie after having a massive sesh. I nearly lost my mind; this film is F***ed up. Really.

Has anyone else seen this movie? I know it's kind of old (1996) but I'm just wondering if you guys and girls thought it was as messed up as I did.

I normally hate people who say this but.... I prefer the book.

Movie's good too though.
#4
I saw it, pretty funny at times. ex. "the worst toilet in england", or the guy who ****s himself.
#5
Trainspotting is a great movie. Man, the part where he's going through withdrawal in his room is soo messed up. That baby popped up in a few of my nightmares...

I am reading the book. It's actually somewhat hard to understand. IN fact, it's extremely hard to understand.

You have to hear the words in your head. Then you'll get it.

I think this actually one of the only times where I would willingly say that the film is almost as good as the book.
#7
Can you explain what you mean by 'messed up'? Do you mean that the film was badly made or what the characters were doing was crazy?
#8
It's a good movie. Alot of people prefer the book. It can't be that hard to understand, can it? I've never read it myself.
The UG Awards exist only to instill me with existential doubt.

For me, the 60's ended that day in 1978...

Willies. Fuck the lick and fuck you too.

Anything to do with Scottish dialogue?

It's a fantastic movie and even better book.

Anyone read the sequel, Porno? I got some weird looks reading that on the train

Begbie is one of the greatest characters of all time.

"Picture the scene: The other fuckin' week there, doin' the fuckin' Volley with Tommy, playing pool. I'm playing like Paul-Fuckin'-Newman by the way. Givin' the boy here the tannin' of a lifetime. So it comes to there, during the last shot, the deciding ball of the whole tournament. I'm on the black and he's sittin' in the corner looking all fuckin' biscuit-arsed. When this hard cunt comes in. Obviously fuckin' fancied himself, like. Starts staring at me. Lookin' at me, right fuckin' at me, as if to say, "Come ahead, square go." You ken me, I'm not the type of cunt that goes looking for fuckin' bother, like, but at the end of the day I'm the cunt with a pool cue and he can get the fat end in his puss any time he fucking wanted like. So I squares up, casual like. What does the hard cunt do? Or the so-called hard cunt? Shites it. Puts down his drink, turns, and gets the fuck out of there. And after that, well, the game was mine. "

What I mean by messed up is... well, think about; I'm stoned off of my rocker, and lulling in and out of consciousness and I just see these intense scenes of cooking heroin, a dead baby that eventually crawls on a ceiling, a man pulling himself into a toilet he just crapped suppositories into, and... well the list could go on, but I love the movie a lot, it's just very odd. I didn't mean it was horribly made. Next I need to finish watching "Spun" and "Requiem for a Dream".

BEST Begbie scene is the bit where he pulls the tranny.

I lol'd until pee came out.

I love the bit after it when Renton's taking the piss, and Begbie just goes mental and threatens to kill him

Or the withdrawl scene when he's in Marks bed and tells him something like, "You sweat that shite out your system. Cos if I come back and it's still there, I'll fucking kick it out. Okay?"

I like the film - it is quite messed up but that's how the characters live.

Human Traffic is a similarly themed film and is also v. good.

Maybe I'm retarded but trainspotting made me more curious about heroin. It's a movie I can watch over and over again and enjoy. Requiem for a dream on the other hand...absolute madness but it definitely has that lasting impact.

I thought Requiem for a Dream was preachy and irritating and overused that song waaaaay too much.

I saw some of it and it was awesome but not all of it yet. It's my gran and grandad's favourite.

lol, good film.

'It's ****E being Scottish! We're the lowest of the low, the scum of the ****ing earth, the most wretched, miserable, servile, pathetic trash that was ever shat into civilization. Some people hate the English, I don't. They're just wankers. We, on the other hand, are colonized by wankers. We can't even find a decent culture to be colonized by. We are ruled by effete arseholes. It's a ****e state of affairs to be in, Tommy! And all the fresh air in the world won't make any ****ing difference!'

Man, amazing film, amazing book, amazing play! I'm doing the play at the end of this month! Its the most intense show i've ever done... Its a terrifying prospect, but it'll turn out awesome!

I love Trainspotting. One of my favorites actually. It is a bit ****ed up in parts, but it adds to the awesomeness.
#31
Read the book, but took me ages to read - nearly a week because of all the bizarre jock dialect (is that politically incorrect? ). Was a great read though, that bit where the waitress feeds a turd to her customers as chocolate pudding redefines epic.

it cant be worse than The Wicker Man.

I loved the movie because I enjoy weird movies, and also because Ewan McGregor is hot.

I read the book a couple months after I saw the movie, though, and I was disappointed to see how much was eliminated from it and how much the plot was changed around for the movie. The book is incredible, though.
#34
I liked the movie...despite...or probably because of...its f*cked-up-ness.
I can't find the book anywhere though...
#35
the book is great
the movie is one of the greatest of the century really...
the book also has a second part...

haha, what's that got to do with anything. I watched it all the other day and it was awesome. The baby was scary though, probably even more messed up if you have a kid and watch it though.

great film, thought it was older than 96 though?
