JCM2000? Funny.

I'd say H&K Triamp MKII is the closest you'll get.
A dwarf might hear you. What then?

There really isn't one ultimate amp for all genres and for all players in one amp.

I'd say for blues (bear in mind I'm only listing amps that i've played), one of the Chicago Blues Box line. I know it may seem like i'm saying this because I own one, but they do deliver spectacular dirty blues tones, along with some sweet cleans. The harmonic boost needs to be footswitchable though, I guess that's something I'll have to talk to my tech about. A footswitchable harmonic boost would eliminate the purpose of a transistor clean boost/OD pedal.

For older rock and stuff like that, i'd say a Budda Superdrive or a Bad Cat (they all rule).

For modern/harder rock, and metal, I haven't really sampled too many amps which do that genre, so I couldn't tell you.

But even with the amps I listed, there is no ONE ultimate amp.
Call me Wes.

They don't sound even remotely similar. Marshall makes mediocre amps anyway and doesn't belong on the list.
Someones knowledge of guitar companies spelling determines what amps you can own. Really smart people can own things like Framus because they sound like they might be spelled with a "y" but they aren't.

I hope you're not referring to vintage Plexi's and such as "mediocre".

I guess if everyone could have only ONE amp the H&K Triamp would probably please the most amount of people... but like darkarbiter said, there is no ultimate amp.

its not like im looking for "an ultimate amp" i just wanted to see what people would come up with, there's two amps i haven't heard of here, and i wanna hear them.

and when i think of **** marshalls, i think of mg's marshalls arent ****, and they wouldnt be **** if some of the best guitarists used them for almost all or completly all of their careers.

Line 6 Spider Valve [/yes i'm ****ing joking]

There is no such a thing, and if there was, it would be so awesome it would be too good, therefore it would suck. My logic is infallible.

He said makes, not made.

And also, JCM2000?

Actually, I heard some exceptional tone out of a Vetta the other day...
The Laney Thread are big and clever. No exceptions.

Wow, unless your referring to the MG's? Mg's don't count as Marshall's, just like you can't judge Line 6 based off their Spider SS's, have you ever touched a JCM 800? Go play with your spider or mesa.

the only way is to own like 10 different amps and have one giant switching system to switch between amps as if they are separate channels all going into the same set of cabs.
#22
Mesa Mark IV (i've seen mark amps do jazz, and of course they own at metal, so it's quite an obvious choice).

Ultimate Amp For Everyone UNDER $1,000: Mesa DC-5 (basically a stripped down Mark IV, with a little more gain). ^_^

Yeah, I hear that RoadKings get awesome jazz tones.

The only professional-level amp I've ever tried that did EVERYTHING and did it all well was the Line 6 Vetta.
