Hi

I recently bought a Numark TTUSB turntable to play my vinyl on, I've got it plugged into my macbook via USB, and I've got my speaker set plugged into my macbook by the headphone port.

To be able to hear my vinyl, I go through Audacity, I went to Audacity > Preferences > Audio I/O, and I've got it currently set up like this;

(click on the pictures)

To hear the records, I have to click Moniter Input;

It works perfectly fine, but once every 5 minutes or so, it goes very very crackly.

To resolve this problem I click on Moniter Input again, which stops the sound, wait 1 second and click it again. This solves the problem until next time it does it, it ranges from 30 seconds to 10 minutes.

If anyone has any advice, please do help, I'm getting desperate.

Thanks in advance!

Hmm, this might be an overheating issue. Check your cpu temperatures when you're running audacity.

Thanks for the reply, I'm 99.99% it isn't an overheating problem, I've got my macbook on a stand with 3 fans on it which is on top of a desk.

Ok, in that case I guess it's not overheating. What happens if you let on playing it while it is all crackly?

It just stays crackly, I don't think it gets more or less crackly, but next time it does it I'll leave it on to be sure, thanks for your replies.

Okay I've just done it, it gets gradually worse for about 5 seconds, then stays at the same level after that until I change it, it also echos slightly if I leave it.
