Do open, 5, 3, in a blusey rhythm. One of the first things I was able to play

However, it may be hard but start looking into some beginner songs that use more strings. You're only limiting yourself.

The tremolo picking section of Eruption by Van Halen.

Nah, that might be a little fast...

Uhm, not too sure in regards to one string, though.

You don't need to stay on a single string to start small, though. Try getting some beginner books.

just look at some good power chord songs.

MY first song was Morningstar by AFI... it's relatively easy.

a really easy song is "London Dungeon" by the Misfits, it's only one string (low E) the whole time, besides the chorus being Emin over and over. Easiest. Song. Ever.

The Offspring and Greenday are good for beginners...

all you need is the powerchord shape and run with it...

Hmm, this may help three strings, SUPER easy and sounds good at any pace.

A String - 0-0-4-4-5-5-6-6-7-7. X 4
D String -0-0-4-4-5-5-6-6-7-7. X 2
A String - 0-0-4-4-5-5-6-6-7-7. X 2
E String - 0-0-4-4-5-5-6-6-7-7. X 1
A String - 0-0-4-4-5-5-6-6-7-7. X 2
E String Open.

A very basic 12 bar blues, this can be useful for Alt. Picking also.

When i was first learning I'd always play this little riff thing:

0-0-2-0-3-0-5-3-0-0-2-0-3-0-5-3 On the fifth string. Has a cool bluesy sound to it, and it also help you with playing with your pinky. And you can switch up what string you play it on.

Learning how to get around on a single string is something alot of players overlook. It's so useful for getting up and down the neck quickly and into different positions.Doing so keeps you out of the typical box back and fourth shapes.

If you go here
http://www.all-guitar-chords.com/scales-to-chords.php
You'll be able to load up any scale or arpeggio and see how it plays out on each individual string, I would suggest learning how to play them all the way up and back up on one string.

It realllly helps!

theres a part of the foo fighters song learn to fly thats only one string. Also, if your playing smoke on the water on one string then your playing it wrong. One of the first things I learned was the hardest button to button by the white stripes or whatever the song is. The main riff to Steriogram's walkie talkie man is two strings but its pretty easy and was one of the first things i learned. Paint it black by the rolling stones is also a song to play on one string.

Paint it Black is one string, but there is a catch. It's played on a SITAR!!!! Anyways, try learning the intro to a Joe Satriani song called Rasberry Jam Delta-V. It's just a B mixolydian scale played on the (you guested it!) B string. The open B acts as a pedal note throughout. But I can't seem to find a decent tab for it online. I'd sugest learning it by ear. Improve your ear training while you improve your technique!

That's Peter Gun but on the fifth string instead of the sixth. I was going to suggest that!
