hey guys. im reading up on some theory and im a bit confused. let me see if i can explain this.

ok so i understand teh basics of chords and how there made

1-3-5 is a major chord.

1-3-5-7b is a dom 7th

1-3-5-7 is a major7th. so you would say Cmajor7th

now for advanced chords.

1-3-5-7b-9. i understand what this chord is. but what is it called? becuase if i call it Cmajor-9 then people might get confused with a real major9th (1-3-5-7-9)
is it just C9th? because i know Cadd 9 is would just be 1-3-5-9.

so to sum up my question is what is the right chord name for a 1-3-5-7b chord?

1,3,5,b7 is just call the X seventh or dominate chord

The reason is ..there's W step between 4 and 5.
If you start the count from the 5th of the parent scale for the V, it has
to be a b7 to stay in key as the V chord.

1,3,5,7 is Maj7 becuase of the H step between the 7th and the root/octive
Use as the I or IV chord. Half step between 3/4 and 7/8

example in the Key of C

V chord
G7 1,3,5,b7
G9 1,3,5,b7,9
G11 1,3,5,b7,9,11
G13 1,3,5,b7,9,11,13

I or IV chord
Cmaj9 1,3,5,7,9 and so on and so forth

1 3 5 b7 would be a Dominant 7th chord, and would be written as X7
135b7 9 would be a 9th chord, and would be written as X9
