I've had a problem with Ibanez RG370DX. It's been this way since we got it, and we couldn't refund or exchange it. Plus it was my first guitar so I wouldn't consider doing that now.

Anyway...

One of the magnets on the Ibanez INF single-coil pickup sticks out farther then the others. My dad and I took apart the pickup to find out what was wrong. It seemed the magnet was longer than the others. I'm not sure if all of these models are made this way, but it completely ruins the sound playing with the middle pick-up.

When I play on it, the low E string produces a very clunky, unpleasent noise. Because of this I've never been able to get good cleans out of this guitar. Any idea what caused this/how to fix it?

Here's two pictures. It's a bit hard to see.

I would replace it but I don't have the money. That's why I'm looking to see if it's fixable first.

And no I checked the warranty

use an allen wrench to lower the pole piece. it's not the magnet btw.

flip it around so the raised magnet is by the high E until you can replace the pickup perhaps? it would be better (I assume) than it is now.

Just tried this. The pole doesn't screw in any lower. I can push it down but it slides back up to the same position.

Hit it with a hammer?

If you can't lower the pole piece you could just lower the one side of the pickup, but your A and D strings would sound a bit weak.
A dwarf might hear you. What then?

that's the only way i know. try it again. why not take it to a guitar tech or luthier?

Yeah I guess I'll look into that.

It must be something with the pickup because the pole doesn't even really screw out. I can slide it in and out. I took it out completely. It makes my low E sound a bit weak but it removes the clunk.

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I'll take these into consideration.
