Looking for a good sounding metalish rock amp just for practice but it would be nice if it could get just a little loud for practice with a whole band. I was looking at the cube 30x but opinions are apreciated as I know nothing about amps. Thanks in advance.

If you are going to be practicing with a full band and only have $250, I would suggest saving up a little more money, and getting at least 60 stolid state watts, if not more, or getting a used tube combo. Randall Solid states are nice, check some of those out. I think they actually do have a 75 watt combo for about $250. good luck.

I wouldn't be practicing with a full band for a while though. Would a cube 60 be good enough? Or should I go for a tube amp?

Nah, tube can't do metal at that price range, so you should be fine with the Cube 30.
