Screaming is cool if it's done right.

Good screamer: Davey from AFI
Bad screamer: Buddy from Senses Fail

Also, I prefer hoarse, throaty screams instead of growls or low metal-type screaming...
I'm the type of nigga that's built to last
If you fuck with me, I'll put my foot in your ass
See, I don't give a fuck cause I keep bailin
Yo, what the fuck are they yellin?!

Yelling is better.

I agree.

but a really good example of well used screaming is Saturday by FOB. I'm sure there are better examples but that's what came to mind. It doesn't control the song but it adds a certain amount of strength so that the song builds near the end. many songs do this.

but all screaming = suck. no questions asked. the music isn't always bad but too much screaming makes for a horrific song.

More often than not albums that are screamed the whole way through bore me, but if the vocalist has the voice for it then you can't knock it.

Why do we feel it's necessary to yak about bullsh*t in order to be comfortable?

That's when you know you found somebody special. When you can just shut the f*ck up for a minute, and comfortably share silence.

Totally depends on who's doing the vox. Could go either way. Nothing against screaming though. I love desparate, raw vocals more than anything, sung or screamed.
#10
If it works with the song itself I don't care if they scream all the way through or sing.

I like screaming. I don't like the screaming that is in this forum though..
(I think they are usually sucky)

Yeah, I like screaming, but I don't like your poll options. Some bands should scream the whole time, some should only scream a little, and some shouldn't scream at all. I really don't like low metal type screams or grunts though.
I'm the same as I was when I was six years old

I don't really feel anything

i like the robert plant/axl rose screams, those are cool when they use'em (welcome to the jungle of course and since i've been loving you are good examples)

but i can't ****in stand screaming and growling like what a lot of screamo or heavy metal bands do. bugs the **** out of me.

You forgot to put up your flame shield bud.

Screaming can be good or bad. I honestly hate it when these pop rock bands that scream occasionally because the stupid fangirls think they listen to 'screamo' music. I don't like growling, and grindcore vocals can be a bit too much for me sometimes but I generally like screaming. Screaming takes talent too.

When it's in the right context.
Like Linkin Park.

Emo bands aren't my favorite screaming examples.

Not to be an ass, but I doubt you've even heard real emo bands, let alone ones that scream.

Over produced screams he could never pull off live.

I ****in' love screamed vocals.
Casey Calvert was epic.
Same with whoever it is that does the screaming in 'My Heart' by Paramore.
And whoever screams in The Used...

who cares? it's what's on the record that counts for me. I've seen FOB once and I'll probably never see them again. I don't remember how they screamed or details like those, but I remember the experience.

and tell me your first name or give me another hint! I'm stumped...

i only dig it with certain genres and artists.. for example, pete from chevelle is an amazing screamer. and i kind of like josh farro screaming in 'my heart'. i dont like a lot of screaming though, especially if i dont know what they are saying.

only some bands can scream,
others just fail, oh so badly.

and
i like we are the oceans screaming,
only like some of the verses are screamed and you can actually hear the words.

not a big fan of totally hardcore screaming though,
kinda hard to sing along to..
Its like a colour mismatch

I love screamed vocals and skramz.

I also dig Davey Havok's screams in STS and Decemberunderground. A lot of the modern post-hardcore/pop-punk bands being said seem a bit whiny, overproduced, and forced IMO.

That was an epic scream you gotta admit, and it wasn't just in a cheesily climactic bridge.

P.S. I'll give another hint soon if you guys don't get it soon. You're trying too hard.

Their screaming stuff sounds too forced to me. It's like, every song has to have a screaming part, whether it fits or not. He does have a good scream, though.
#36
i usually have to hear how the screams fit into the music but i really like the stuff in as i lay dying and all that remains

OK, I looked up that 'Casey' guy. More like epic-lulz. I think HH wouldn't be as bad if he wasn't 'screaming' those parts. BLEHHBLEHH. People hear that and think all screaming is like it (yep, I may be making a generalization, but at school people honestly thought that)

(not to be rude to the deceased)
#40
no offense, but casey is just another dime case except with less talent.

don't take this the wrong way though. I have so much respect for the man. he was successful doing what he wants to do and made a huge impact on the world before he left.

however, he wasn't that amazing of a musician. still, much respect to him.
