My main problem with playing is that I cannot fully control my pinky without my ring finger (do you understand what I mean?). Does anyone know any good pinky exercises that I could use?

try the chromatic scale, do it slowly and keep your little finger as close to the neck as you can, do it every night for about 15 mins
you'll soon be getting better.
Also do the crab i think my teacher called it, where you move to fingers up the string at a time, its hard to explain without seeing it.

Is the "crab" basically pressing each consecutive fret with each finger, and when you get to your pinky you go up one string?
Like this?
G-------------------------------1-2-3-4
D---------------------1-2-3-4---------
A-----------1-2-3-4-------------------
E-1-2-3-4------------------------------
And then you keep repeating it except a fret higher each time.
I can't do that exercise very fast, especially in the higher frets. Then I'm like a turtle.

Practice hammers and pull offs with your pinky. Also, take all the lead parts you know, where you'd normally stretch your ring finger to a fret instead of using your pinky, and use your pinky instead.
