The easiest fix would be to raise the action at the bridge.

Didn't you say that you had a stuffed fox that you would occasionally fuck?

probably, the nut was poorly cut. what's your string gauge and guitar?

TS, detune your guitar for a while. see if the A string is loose at the nut.

i messed with the tuning for a little bit and it didnt seem to help any. (its on a double locking trem if that makes a difference)

i actually had to change the nut today, and thats how the buzzing started. one of the screw holes (to lock the strings) in the nut got stripped, so i ordered a new one off of ibanez's website, and i put it on a few hours ago. my guitar had nearly perfect innotation (if not perfect) prior to changing the nut, and it still seems to, but its buzzing on the open A
i play an 8 string

it has a locking nut. have you tried taking it to a tech?

not yet, but i'm thinking about it. it has to be some kind of problem with how the nut was made or something since its just the A string

i thought about that too. it's abnormal to buzz at only one string. the nut might need to be replaced.

don't worry. maybe the tech can do something without buying a new nut. take it to a tech and see what would happen. tell him it's a new nut.

perhaps you need to adjust your truss rod? sorry if someone already said that.

it doesn't buzz on fretted strings. no need to adjust truss rod.
