I have a MIM strat and im going to be upgrading the pickups and all the electronics. My first question is what kind of sound difference is there going to be wiring up every pickup with a toggle switch to either have them in phase or out of phase...i understand the wiring but just want to know what kind of sound or difference it would make having them out of phase. And second what kind of pickups do u think would have the best blues and classic rock sound like Clapton, Hendrix, SRV, David Gilmour, and John Mayer...i was thinking Alnico II Pro Duncans but would like some other sugustions. Thanks

Alnico II Pro Staggered in neck position sounds great in my MIM strat.

Well, sounded great before I took the whole thing apart to refinish it.

But put one of those in the neck. It is so smooth.

I know Gilmour uses an SD SSL-1 in the the bridge of his black strat. Can't comment on the phase part, as I haven't experimented with it yet.

Considering the fact that all your tone influences play almost all of their music with single coils (except for clapton's "cream" work and hendrix's short stint with a flying v), I'd stick with some high quality singles.
