Right...

I've learnt that whenever you need a question answering you can always come to the friendly people of the pit soo....

I've just started at job at woolworths and im on £4.47 an hour.

Im 16 and therefore wont be working normal hours but say i work 16 hours a week i'll earn £71.52 a week.

I was wondering... How much national insurance will I have to pay?

Surely i cant pocket all of that money right?

Cheers guys (Y)

You won't have to pay a penny, the earnings bracket for nation insurance is a lot higher than that, I'm on more than that and I don't have to pay...I'm 18 by the way...

If you earn under a certain amount you can reclaim all of it anyway, and national insurance is a very small amount. I think they once took £11 off a £120 wage so its nothing major.

If you earn over £100 a week, you pay NI on what you go over by

I.e. If you get £120 a week, you pay NI on the £20

But you should be fine with what you're getting

£4.47 is very random

yeah i know :S

I'm not particularly complaining though as thats much higher pay than most of my friends get.

I would have been happy with minimum wage to be honest =)

You wont get charged unless you start another job, then you get put on emergency tax regardless of whether you meet the threshold or not.

true that

it actually happened to me fairly recently

but then I am in 2 part time jobs and also classified as self employed so I have to deal with a lot of this sort of thing...though me mam knows more about it than I do
