That guitar would be fine for that, but you might want to consider a pickup upgrade for it in the future.

The Epiphone's pickups won't give you the tone you're looking for.

Only if he's got a good enough amp to do them justice. Active pickups sound awful through poor amps.

Which is more the point. OP, what amp do you have? If you're looking for a tone change, a different amp will be more of a difference than a new guitar.
