hey, i just got this new HP Pavilion notebook, and i've never had a laptop.... so i got a question! Should i leave it plugged in (charging i mean) all of the time that i can? Or will this corrode the battery? What should i do charging wise in order to not destroy the battery?

Nice choice - HP Pavillions are v. nice, I'd suggest propping the back of it on a DVD case or something though so that you raise it off the surface it's on as they can get very hot.
Just charge it when you need to or keep it plugged in if you want optimal performance.

Sweet dude, i got one of those too

Erm i leave the battery in when it charges. I dont see how it would adversely affect it, however i have heard rumours. But its HP..Its not like dells laptops which were going up in fireballs because of faulty batteries..

tbh it doesn't make the much bit of difference. If you keep it plugged in, then the battery will wear down gradually, but you obviously don't need the battery that much if this is the case. If you don't leave it plugged in, then charge it before the battery dies, it remembers and thinks it needs charging sooner than it does, so this essentially has the same effect. You could always take the battery out when you plug it in, then only charge the battery when it is fully dead. Don't forget laptop batteries only have a year-long life expectancy though.

urgghh, right. What we were told to reccomend at work is, only plug the laptop in when you get the second "low battery" warning, and then charge it, then unplug it again, because otherwise, you're not really using the battery, this way its in use and should hold a charge better. as your not powering it constantly.

Mhm, well it's what i was taught and from what ive seen, yeah. so just leave it on battery after its fully charged, and when you get the second "plug in" warning plug in =)

^ aww damn, that's why my battery went from being 3 hours of use to just under 2. (I leave my laptop plugged in all the time when it's not in use. I rarely ever use the laptop while plugged in.)
